July 2010
Using our thermal image capability, we managed to save £7,000.00 for an Insurer.  In addition to this, Trace & Access costs had been suggested to the same Insurer by another contractor at around £800.00.  Using our thermal image capability (TITAM) we successfully traced the leak and repaired the 24sq metre flooring area for under £500.00.

Contact us to find out why our revolutionary approach to losses below £10,000.00 is being seen as unique by many instructing principals, and also why losses valued from £10,000.00 to £250,000.00 are tackled in a different, but still unique manner.  True mitigation, strong project management and well established systems are in place to demonstrate why we have never lost a client.

May 2010 - Structural and Subsidence Team – Edinburgh Update
An external photograph is contained on our website news for May 2010.

This structure has been modified over the years but the brick panel was never tied into the stonework, resulting in a plane of weakness where cracking developed after differential movement.

We have achieved structural integrity across the crack by inserting “crack stitches” (stainless steel helical drawn bars) into the mortar beds to hold the 2 different types of construction together. The project is running on schedule and external works are in the final stages.

Internal plasterwork is now almost complete, and following sufficient time for drying the property will be decorated.  External render repairs are scheduled following removal of scaffold access from the exterior.

For more information on what we can do with properties affected by movement or other structural damage, please email us – structural@johnwylie.co.uk

April 2010 - A very busy month!
We are working very hard to ensure promises made are delivered and in most cases this means working longer hours and during days which most of the industry take off.  We are working right through the 30th April – 3rd May holiday weekend and long hours are very much the norm at the moment.  That said, we are delighted that scheduled projects are on track and promises made are being delivered.

If you want to know more about how we achieve this even during surge periods, please

March 2010.
We are expanding our offices to around 3 times the current size, and will shortly be offering professional reinstatement to the whole of Scotland.

In conjunction with this expansion, and in additional to offering high net worth reinstatement  throughout Scotland, we will be offering the following services;

• a genuine 24/7 glazing and boarding-up service;
• a 24/7 plumbing and drainage service;
• an asbestos testing and removal service and;
• a subsidence and structural repair service.

We are also looking to introduce a Client Login, thereby demonstrating true transparency. Until this service is active, we will still be offering our twice-weekly photographic and technical updates and a structured, programmed reinstatement service which allows all parties to be aware of the status of their project at any time.

Finally, we are shortly announcing a restructuring of our Insurance Division which will coincide with significant expansion and IT changes within our organisation.

January 2010 - Adverse Weather.
Remember 1995? Minus 22 degree temperatures, cold snaps and burst pipes in many parts of the UK?

This year has started with adverse weather. Many will not have prevented pipes from freezing, and the thaw which will inevitably occur in the next few weeks will determine the extent to which this years’ adverse weather has affected the UK.

We are receiving a quantity of large loss and High Net Worth losses, as well as commercial losses, where water has frozen inside pipework and has escaped, causing, in some cases, considerable damage.

Many commercial properties have been vacant during the winter period, and will be inoperable until the water supply is reactivated. During this process, in combination with the activation of heating systems, burst pipes will develop and we anticipate widespread damage to many areas of the UK.

In the event that you are affected by the adverse weather, and wish to meet with us to discuss our unique approach to the reinstatement process, please complete the online form on this site and we will be in touch, usually within 4 hours of receiving your instruction. Alternatively, you can telephone us on 01698 818 480 during office hours, and email outwith office hours to our Operations Manager directly: johntoms@johnwylie.co.uk

If you are in Glasgow City Centre over the festive period, the project (and the large Christmas card) can be seen on Clyde Street just before the left turning to Maxwell Street.

TITAM saves the day Mar 2009
We have just completed a contract using thermal imaging. In order to determine the precise location of a widespread area of damage, our heating engineers switched the heating off in a domestic property for 24 hours and switched it back on whilst using the thermal imaging technology. The heat radiating from a single source was detected using the thermal imaging camera, thereby reducing the extent to which expensive flooring was disrupted. Savings of over £4,000.00 were achieved in the process when weighed against the cost of stripping up flooring in a large area.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Trace and Access Feb 2009
We now have the availability to undertake a fixed price Thermal Image of flooring to detect leaks which, otherwise, would need to be damaged to detect the location of a leak. Please click here for more details, or fill in our online form with your enquiry.

We intend to add to the site regularly.
